Deanna Rose Farm

My brother, sister-in-law and nephew were in town the week before Travis' wedding and in the midst of all the chaos we were able to spend some fun time together. The five of us, my mom and my niece Elizabeth went to Deanna Rose Farm in Overland Park. Landon was very good and even feel asleep for 45 min to an our at the end. My Nephew Charlie is almost 14 months old and he loved it. He loved to be able to run around, feed the goats, go in the tee-pee and most of all sit on the fence. We had a great time and I wish we were able to spend more time with Jason, Jenny and Charlie so our boys could grow up together and be best friends. Here are a few pictures from the day.

Catch Up

I have had a very hard time keeping up with the blog so I spent the evening tonight after my family went to bed trying to catch up. I posted about Easter, going to the lake, food, and swimming lessons. I have a few more post to put up and then I will be caught up and hopefully will try to stay more on top of it. I am sorry to all of those who follow and have not seen pictures recently of Landon. He is getting so big and I hope you enjoy!

It is time for food

I knew Landon was ready for food because he is always interested in everything we have.  He always wants our food and drinks so I decided about a week before his 6 month birthday it was time for some baby cereal.

Around the same time Landon started to have very dry skin and rashes that would appear now and again. We did not know exactly what was causing the rashes so we stopped the cereal to see if they would clear up. The rash did kind of clear up and then when we started cereal again the rash seemed worse. We stopped again to give Landon's skin a chance to clear up for my brother’s wedding. Then the day after the wedding we started oatmeal. Landon began to spit up a lot more than normal with the oatmeal so I switched back to rice cereal . His rash still will appear now and again but we are just going to continue to feed him and see what happens. I hope he is not going to be a very sensitive little guy.  We will just keep trying new tings and hopefully he will get used to all sorts of food.

Anyway, today was the third day back on cereal/oatmeal so we decided to branch out and try our first vegetable.

I have always wanted to make homemade baby food because baby food in jars grosses me out for some reason. So this morning I steamed some organic carrots, purred them in the food processor and made my own baby food! I was so proud of myself so I decided to see what Landon thought about them. With each bite he would make a horrible face, hold his breath and turn bright red...but I kept going and after about 5-7 bites he began to swallow and I think actually enjoy them. I plan to do carrots for three days or so before moving on to our next veggie...squash or peas?   All the new adventures with a baby are so much fun, who ever thought it would be so much fun to feed your baby food!

I took a video and I will soon try to figure out how to put videos on the blog so you can see him enjoying his carrots.

Swimming Lessons

Landon started swimming lessons at the end of April. There are 5 babies in his class and he loves it once he gets used to the rather chilly water. We are learning to kick, splash, blow bubbles, float on our back and belly, go under water and of course Have FUN! The classes are at the Lee's Summit Aquatic Center and some of my friends and their babies are taking the class with us. It is twice a week on Monday and Wednesday at 7:10 if you ever want to come watch. We have 4 classes left. Here are some pictures before and during class.
okay mom I'm ready to go swimming

wow this is kind of cold!

I love the Lake!

Well the weekend after Easter we headed to Branson for the weekend and took Landon on his first boat ride. He absolutely loved it. Papa let him drive and he thought it was pretty cool. He took a nap on the boat, and lounged outside...what could be better. I can’t wait for this summer when we can spend more weekends at the lake. It is so nice that Landon is so easy going and is a perfect baby at home or in a new environment. Anyway here are some pictures of Landon loving life on the boat!

Do you like my hat?

Easter!

Again it has been so long since my last post I don’t know where to start. In March Landon and I survived another weekend by ourselves while Stephen went to my brothers Bachelor party. It was a busy weekend helping out with my nieces but we survived and were excited when daddy came home. After Daddy was back he soon got sick and spent 4 days home from work and in bed. When I got home from work on Monday Stephens fever was 105.9....Scary! After a week of feeling bad and a few days of antibiotics he was finally getting back to normal in time for Easter.

Landon’s first Easter was good. We went to church and then home for a nap before going to Aunt Shery’s for lunch/dinner. The weather was perfect and so we were able to play outside. It was so much fun to get him all dressed up...Who doesn't love a baby in a sweater vest?

As I am posting this and looking back on our Easter pictures I realized I am the worst mom ever and I never took Landon to see the Easter bunny :( Oh well maybe next year.
